24/7 Emergency Shelter
24-7 Shelter
What began in 2000 as a winter-only, overnight shelter for women has morphed into a robust, 24-7 low-barrier shelter serving 50 women, transgender, and nonbinary individuals year-round. While with us, each shelter guest is provided an assigned bed, locked storage for their belongings, 24-7 access to showers and hygiene, on-site laundry facilities, transportation assistance, and three meals and two snacks each day. We have at least two staff members working at all times to help maintain a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed shelter environment and, all guests are offered on-site behavioral healthcare which includes 1-on-1 counseling as well as processing and art therapy groups. All guests are required to participate in housing-focused case management as part of their stay. As a low-barrier shelter, we believe housing is a primary intervention to homelessness and that individuals are better able to find stability and achieve their goals when their basic needs are being met.
The Delores Project is not a safe house or confidential location and we do not serve individuals fleeing any type of dangerous or violent situation. For more information about shelter eligibility and how to access it, please click on the link at the top right-hand side of this page that says, "Need shelter?"
The Delores Project does not offer emergency rental assistance, deposit assistance, ID assistance, financial assistance, or emergency housing of any type to the general public. We do not have a wait list for supportive housing at The Delores Apartments nor do we accept housing referrals from other providers as all vacant units are filled through Coordinated Entry. If you are looking for any of the above assistance, please reach out to Mile High United Way by calling 211 or going to https://unitedwaydenver.org/community-programs/2-1-1/.
