Welcome to Our Volunteer Community!
The Delores Project offers many meaningful ways for individuals, families, friends, and groups to volunteer. Whether it’s providing or serving meals in the shelter, working behind the scenes to help our operations run smoothly, or hosting fun community building activities, we have a variety of opportunities to use your special skills.
Are you looking for ways to volunteer aside from our Meal Program? If so, see below of a creative list of ways to get involved.

Get Started Becoming a Volunteer
New volunteers must complete the volunteer onboarding process outlined below prior to volunteering onsite. If you have any questions or need support in the process, please reach out to volunteers@thedeloresproject.org
Group leaders are required to participate in our full onboarding process, share all appropriate information with each member of your group, and attend the scheduled volunteer shift(s) with your group.
Group members are required to complete a volunteer application, submit your vaccination record, and register for your spot under the group reservation. Group members are encouraged to attend orientation, though it is not required.
Step One: Tell us about you!
Visit our volunteer site and sign up! Complete our volunteer application.
Step Two: Complete a volunteer interview.
This brief interview is an opportunity to get to know one another, chat about our volunteer opportunities, and make sure we're a good fit! You will get a link to schedule once you fill out your application.
Note for groups: If you are part of a group, this is only required for group leaders.
Step Three: Attend a volunteer orientation.
You'll learn about who we are, what we do, who we serve, and our expectations for volunteers. In-person and virtual sessions are available. You can also download our Volunteer Handbook to learn more about our policies and procedures. You will get a link to register for orientation after your volunteer interview.
Note for groups: This is only required for group leaders. Group members are encouraged to attend if you'd like!
Step Four: Sign up for volunteer shifts
Once you've completed the onboarding process, you will be able to sign up for shifts on our Volunteer Website.
Note for groups: Your group leader will have access to register your group for shifts.
Please send questions to volunteers@thedeloresproject.org.
